About
Personaramic is an outreach project about personality and psychology, born out of a genuine interest in the subject: we like reading about it, and we also can't quite resist taking a personality test whenever we see one, even when we can already guess the result. That's where the idea for this site came from.
It isn't a clinical practice or a project built as a business: every test and article draws on real academic sources, not whatever comes up first in a search, because the goal is to combine rigor, entertainment, and curiosity, not to sell a diagnosis.
What we do
Every test and article on the site is built by consulting the original academic literature: the work of authors like John Bowlby and Mary Ainsworth (attachment), Costa and McCrae (Big Five, NEO-PI-R), Peterson and Seligman (character strengths), Kim Bartholomew (adult attachment model), Daniel Goleman (emotional intelligence), and others. From there we write our own version, meant to be read in minutes and understood without any prior background in psychology, while still citing where each idea comes from.
Our tests are informal adaptations, not the original clinical scales: when a reference professional instrument exists (the NEO-PI-R, the VIA-IS, the Adult Attachment Interview...), we say so explicitly in the article or category itself, along with the difference between the two.
What we're not
Personaramic is not a clinical service and doesn't replace a professional psychological evaluation. Our tests exist for entertainment and general self-knowledge: no result is a diagnosis. If you're looking for a real evaluation, the next step is a licensed psychology professional, not an online test, ours or anyone else's.
How we review content
We update articles when we find additional relevant information in the original sources or in later reviews, and we note the last-updated date on each page. We prefer to expand and refine existing content rather than replace it, so each article's history stays consistent with what you may have already read.
How we're funded
Personaramic is funded by showing Google AdSense ads. This advertising doesn't influence the content of our tests or articles: content decisions are made independently, based only on the sources we cite. Ads are only shown if you accept the advertising cookies category in our cookie notice; you can check the details in our cookie policy and privacy policy.
